  1. Thanks for blogging this. Agree with most of the text, right choice of director, great technical specs. But there’s something about the relationship between the audience and the star that makes a film like this work for some, not for others. Watching Desperately Seeking Susan last night reminded me that Madonna represented a movement that emerged almost a decade after this musical was first performed. Fusing the two together in this performance, Madonna and Elvira, creates a film as much about Ciccone as Eva Peron, if not more. I see the same film, with the same flaws, but pre-packages identification and emotion papers over the cracks. It’s Madonna’s best film for sure, but arguably her peak as a performer. High flying adored.
